COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course is designed for Christian leaders, chaplains, and pastors. It introduces the authority of and practical application of God’s Word to the counseling setting, the biblical use of psychological theories, and effective counseling techniques and practices.

COURSE OBJECTIVES :

• To help students understand what biblical counseling is, how it is different from secular counseling, and when it is necessary to refer counselee’s for further care.
• To identify qualifications of biblical counselor’s and what enables them to be effective as a counselor.
• To identify the critical role of the Trinity and the Word of God in the counseling process.
• To identify how the human element impacts individual’s lives and influences the counseling process.
• To identify key tools vital for the biblical counselor.
• To demonstrate skills in the counseling process.
• To appropriately apply scripture to case studies and the counseling process.
• To research and make a presentation on a specific issue and the application of Biblical counseling, such as anxiety, depression, addiction, loss of a child or other such topic of personal interest.
