If you are watching the news, you probably wondering the same things we are  – how can our world spiral into darkness so rapidly?  We believe it is because the closer we get to the return of our Lord, the darker the world will grow. What should our response be?  Faithfulness!  Faithfulness to God’s Word and faithfulness to our mission – our shared mission to go into all the world and make disciples.

 I don’t think we realized the urgency of the mission when God called us specifically to equip Christian leaders serving in difficult and dangerous places, providing them with high quality, biblically sound higher education in order to be fully prepared for challenging Kingdom leadership.   What we are hearing around the globe is truly astonishing!  Below are just a few of the very significant battles being waged against biblical Christianity:

In the U.S. there is a growing “progressive evangelical movement” that embraces pluralism – multiple ways to get to heaven instead of the answer Jesus gave in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  In addition to pluralism, progressive Christian churches embrace all expressions of sexuality, evolution instead of Creation, and the fallible Bible instead of the inerrant Word of God.  Pastors and Christians alike are being deceived as this movement positions itself around social justice that on the surface sounds good, until the destruction of the authority of Scripture is exposed.  Biblical training is urgently needed to combat this false doctrine.  Read more about this movement HERE.

In Africa, radical Islam is encroaching upon Christianity with the goal of silencing the voices of pastors. A pastor in Uganda recently told us that every high profile government position in his town is now held by Muslims.  The first response of the new Muslim mayor was to send him a letter requiring him to stop preaching.  This pastor oversees 1,000 other pastors in the same country.   The Muslims proselytize in the streets by twisting Scripture to lure in Christians who are illiterate in God’s Word.  It is effective, and biblical training is urgently needed for the 1,000 pastors mentioned above to combat the rise of Islam in their nation.  Go HERE to read more about the most urgent need of the global Christian Church today.

In some African countries, governments are now requiring pastors to have a bachelor’s degree or their churches will be shut down.  In one country, we are told this is a good thing as some pastors are abusing their congregations – spraying them with pesticide, requiring them to eat grass, and getting wealthy from their poverty.  In other countries, the requirement to have a bachelor’s degree is a form of control and a way to shut down churches without seeming to persecute Christians.  Regardless, the timing for equipping and training pastors in Africa has a new layer of urgency – to provide the biblical training through a high-quality bachelors degree from the U.S. that will keep church doors open.

I’ve just listed a few of the battles being waged globally for biblical Christianity. The need to fully equip Christian pastors and leaders in developing nations is beyond urgent for many reasons. Right now, we have pastors in Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia waiting for scholarships.  Some pastors tell us they can commit to $5 per month toward their education, others $10, and one said $38.  Right now, we need to provide scholarships for the first 25 pastors in Uganda so they can start their education.  Just $75 a month pays for one pastor’s scholarship.  It is a Kingdom investment that will yield fruit many times over.  And, if $75 is too much, I can assure you that EVERY dollar donated is stewarded very carefully, and every dollar donated counts.  As an IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization, you can deduct your donation from your taxes.  Listen to pastors in Nigeria, the most dangerous place in the world right now to be a Christian, describing the impact of their scholarships on the ministry they lead.  Go HERE to listen.
