Background:
Pastor W. serves in rural Uganda. He is also a husband, father, and a diligent Fully Equipped Bible Institute student on scholarship, working on his bachelor’s degree in theology.
Yesterday he sent photos of his destroyed church building, asking for prayer. The government bulldozed his building, home to several hundred Christians who are growing in faith and understanding of God’s Word.
The government’s stated reason for the destruction of his church is that it is a “temporary” building, and temporary buildings are no longer allowed. If you look closely at the photo, there is lumber, a metal roof, and brick in the background.
Persecution is growing for Christians in Uganda. All of the pastors that we provide academic scholarships for have stated that they, their families, and their churches have been persecuted in some form or another. Uganda is on our list of at-risk nations where legislation is pending that will require pastors to have bachelor’s degrees in theology or their churches will be closed.
